| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jerry Huffman, who is retiring as president and chief |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | executive officer of the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Commerce after many years of outstanding service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Huffman began his affiliation with the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | chamber in 1974; through the years, he has also served other |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | organizations, including a stint as district director for United |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | States Congressman Jim Turner; however, he has always returned to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | serve the people of Lufkin and the Texas Forest Country; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure with the chamber, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Mr. Huffman has developed and implemented a wide range of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | programs and initiatives that have had a profound impact on the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | area's business climate; he organized and developed the Small |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Business Development Center, the Lufkin Convention and Visitors |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Bureau, Leadership Lufkin, and the Angelina Arts Alliance; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, He was instrumental in the resumption of the Texas |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | State Forest Festival, which has been recognized as a Best |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Festival in Texas; under his leadership, the chamber was |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | designated a 5-Star Accredited Chamber, the highest accreditation |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | awarded by the United States Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An award-winning executive and dedicated civic |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | leader, he is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | presence with the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jerry Huffman on his exceptional |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service as president and chief executive officer of the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce and extend to him best |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be |
