| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the delegation from the Live Oak County Historical |

| 4 | 4 | | Commission, which is visiting the State Capitol on April 8, 2015; |

|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Live Oak County Historical Commission was |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | founded in the early 1960s under the auspices of Judge Harry L. |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Hinton to help preserve and promote local history; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The commission strives to educate the public |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | through the publication of historical resources and through |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | collaboration with local civic organizations; staff and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | volunteers also work with local officials to strengthen policy |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | related to preservation and to honor outstanding individuals and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | businesses that have helped shape the community; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The commission helps preserve the region's unique |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | history by placing historical markers at notable sites |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | throughout the area; it also advocates for the acquisition of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | archeological grants to study historic sites, such as the Fort |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Merrill grounds; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Live Oak County Historical Commission is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | indeed deserving of recognition for its diligent work to promote |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the region's unique cultural history and to preserve the memories |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of the citizenry; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend all who work to achieve the important |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | goals of the commission and declare April 8, 2015, as Live Oak |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | County Historical Commission Day at the Texas Capitol; and, be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
