11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 469
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 welcome the delegation from Balch Springs and recognize March 12,
44 2015, as Balch Springs Day at the State Capitol; and
55 WHEREAS, Balch Springs is a home-rule city incorporated in
66 1953; it is named for early settler John M. Balch, who had
77 abundant springs on his property; and
88 WHEREAS, Located in Dallas County, Balch Springs has grown
99 to encompass a population of 20,000 citizens who enjoy a thriving
1010 community with an attractive quality of life and a vibrant
1111 business climate; and
1212 WHEREAS, Balch Springs is home to a variety of cultural and
1313 recreational facilities and opportunities for residents and
1414 visitors alike, including a new library, the Double D Dude Ranch,
1515 and the Chiesl Baseball Complex; and
1616 WHEREAS, Balch Springs Day at the State Capitol offers its
1717 citizens and community leaders the opportunity to learn more
1818 about state government and to promote the assets and quality of
1919 life that make Balch Springs an outstanding place to live, work,
2020 and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2222 Legislature, hereby recognize the citizens of Balch Springs for
2323 their many contributions to our state and extend to them best
2424 wishes for a memorable Balch Springs Day at the State Capitol;
2525 and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2727 the citizens of Balch Springs as an expression of esteem from the
2828 Texas Senate.
