| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Mesquite are visiting the |

| 3 | 3 | | State Capitol on March 31 and April 1, 2015, and the occasion |

| 4 | 4 | | provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Leadership Mesquite is a program that strives to educate |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | civic-minded individuals about city, county, and state |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | government; the course lasts nine months and involves citizens |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | who represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Mesquite works in cooperation with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | such entities as the Mesquite Economic Development Board, Dallas |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | County Commissioners Court, Mesquite Independent School |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | District, and Eastfield College to sponsor different programs |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | every month to help members gain a better understanding of the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Each class chooses a special project to benefit |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the community, and this year, the group is working with Texas |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Mission of Mercy, a mobile dental clinic that travels around the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | state to provide free basic dental care, including cleanings, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | fillings, and extractions, to uninsured Texans; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | volunteerism and community pride, Leadership Mesquite is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | helping to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March 31 and April 1, 2015, as |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Leadership Mesquite Days at the State Capitol and extend to all |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the participants sincere best wishes for continued success. |
