5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Arlington in mourning the loss of Richard Nelson |
---|
7 | 7 | | Rose, who died March 3, 2015, at the age of 68; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Rick Rose was born February 4, 1947, in Longview, |
---|
9 | 9 | | and he graduated from Copperas Cove High School; he began studies |
---|
10 | 10 | | at Tarleton State University, and he volunteered for service with |
---|
11 | 11 | | the United States Army in 1966; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Rose served with the 6th Special Forces |
---|
13 | 13 | | Group at Fort Bragg and was deployed as a platoon leader with the |
---|
14 | 14 | | Mobile Strike Force of the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam; |
---|
15 | 15 | | he served with honor and distinction, and in July of 1968, he was |
---|
16 | 16 | | awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device for valor for his |
---|
17 | 17 | | actions against a Vietcong enemy force; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Rose pursued |
---|
19 | 19 | | a career in law enforcement, and for more than 30 years he served |
---|
20 | 20 | | Texas communities in a number of capacities; he was particularly |
---|
21 | 21 | | proud of his role as an investigator in the Betty Beets case, one of |
---|
22 | 22 | | the most famous murder cases in state history; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Rick Rose was a devoted husband, father, and |
---|
24 | 24 | | grandfather who cherished spending time with his family; he was |
---|
25 | 25 | | beloved by many, and he will long be remembered with deep admiration |
---|
26 | 26 | | by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
29 | 29 | | family of Richard Nelson Rose; and, be it further |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
33 | 33 | | memory of Rick Rose. |
