SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 475
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Mariachi Azul Y Plata of the Ben Bolt Palito Blanco
Independent School District, which recently won its third
consecutive state mariachi championship; and
WHEREAS, Mariachi Azul Y Plata won the Class 2A title in
its first year in the higher classification, after having won its
previous championships in Class 1A; their three musical
selections, Jarabe Loco, Entre Mi Vida, and La Fiesta del
Mariachi, each received high marks from the judges; and
WHEREAS, These young musicians have demonstrated great
talent and perseverance over the course of the school year, and
instrumentalists and singers alike can take great pride in their
outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of director of bands Joe
A. Soliz, the members of Mariachi Azul Y Plata have developed
exceptional teamwork and musicianship; Mr. Soliz has been given
invaluable assistance by assistant director Buddy Garcia, vocal
consultant Angelica Yanez, and lead parent manager Rick Torrez; and
WHEREAS, Ben Bolt High School and the people of South Texas
are proud of the musicians of Mariachi Azul Y Plata for their hard
work and their impressive skills; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Mariachi Azul Y Plata on winning its
third consecutive state mariachi championship title and extend
to its members best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
these young musicians as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
