| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Mariachi Azul Y Plata of the Ben Bolt Palito Blanco |

| 4 | 4 | | Independent School District, which recently won its third |

| 5 | 5 | | consecutive state mariachi championship; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mariachi Azul Y Plata won the Class 2A title in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | its first year in the higher classification, after having won its |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | previous championships in Class 1A; their three musical |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | selections, Jarabe Loco, Entre Mi Vida, and La Fiesta del |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mariachi, each received high marks from the judges; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, These young musicians have demonstrated great |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | talent and perseverance over the course of the school year, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | instrumentalists and singers alike can take great pride in their |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of director of bands Joe |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | A. Soliz, the members of Mariachi Azul Y Plata have developed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | exceptional teamwork and musicianship; Mr. Soliz has been given |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | invaluable assistance by assistant director Buddy Garcia, vocal |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | consultant Angelica Yanez, and lead parent manager Rick Torrez; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ben Bolt High School and the people of South Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | are proud of the musicians of Mariachi Azul Y Plata for their hard |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | work and their impressive skills; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Mariachi Azul Y Plata on winning its |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | third consecutive state mariachi championship title and extend |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to its members best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

|---|
