| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Consuelo Raymond Kazen, who died March |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 22, 2015, at the age of 95; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Consuelo "Connie" Raymond Kazen was born May 6, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1919; she was married to the late Abraham "Chick" Kazen Jr., who |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | served as a United States Congressman; they were blessed with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | five children and with 11 grandchildren and 11 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | great-grandchildren, who were a source of much joy; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Connie Kazen brought her considerable talents, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | creativity, and passion to her work as a teacher and to her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | activities with a wide range of civic and charitable |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | organizations, including the Texas Senate Ladies Club, the Pan |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | American Round Table, the Texas State Teachers Association, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Society of Martha Washington, the Congressional Texas State |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Society, and the Laredo Doll Club; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Kazen was a devout Catholic who practiced |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | her faith in her daily life, and she was a Lady in the Equestrian |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Order of the Holy Sepulchre; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | counsel will long be remembered by those who were privileged to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | share in her life; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | her family and her many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | family of Consuelo Raymond Kazen; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

| 35 | 35 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
