| 4 | 4 | | Capitol for a special Traces to Remember ceremony on January 26, |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Traces to Remember is an initiative dedicated to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | preserving the testimony of Holocaust survivors as a way to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | prevent the recurrence of one of the most horrific chapters in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | world history; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The event at the Capitol is sponsored by the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Global Embassy of Activists for Peace under the leadership of Dr. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | William Soto Santiago, who has devoted his life to creating a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | more just, tolerant, and inclusive society; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Capitol ceremony will feature the testimony |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of Holocaust survivor Leon Horn and the presentation of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | nation's first Traces to Remember commemorative plaque, a bronze |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Star of David with the handprints of a Holocaust survivor, his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | son, and his grandson; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Traces to Remember has played a vital role in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | promoting respect for human dignity and in preserving the history |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of the men and women who suffered under the totalitarian rule of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Nazi regime; it is truly fitting that this exceptional |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | program receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Traces to Remember project on its |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | efforts to ensure that the horrors of the Holocaust are not |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | forgotten and extend to all participants best wishes for a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | memorable ceremony at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | honor of this special event. |
