| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Michael Tovar of San Antonio |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | on December 20, 2014, at the age of 23, brought deep sorrow to the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | many friends and family of this caring and energetic young Texan; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Alamo City, Michael Tovar was born |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | on August 10, 1991, to Gregorio and Betty Tovar and grew up with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the companionship of his five brothers and sisters; he was a 2010 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | graduate of McCollum High School, where he participated in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program and rose to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | rank of cadet captain; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Tovar went on to receive his welding certificate |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | from South Texas Vocational Technical Institute and his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | commercial driver's license from Texas Road Master; he was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | trained as both a welder and electrician, finding employment with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Public Works Department of the City of San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with an array of talents and interests, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Mr. Tovar enjoyed dancing, playing billiards, carpentry, landscaping, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and spending time in the outdoors, and he embraced the cowboy |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | culture of South Texas; he was also known for his generous spirit |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and for the countless times he went out of his way to lend a hand to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | someone in need; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although the loss of a young man so bright with |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | promise brings immeasurable heartache, those who knew and loved |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Michael Tovar may find comfort in remembering the joy and enthusiasm |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | that defined his life, and they will forever carry his memory in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Tovar and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | parents, Gregorio and Betty Tovar; to his siblings, Gregory, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Jason, Christine, Veronica, and Elisabeth; to his grandmother, |

| 36 | 36 | | Martha Delgado; to his girlfriend, Kristie Luna; and to his other |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
