                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 506
 WHEREAS, Overcoming mental illness and substance use
 disorders is essential to achieving healthy lifestyles, both
 physically and emotionally; and
 WHEREAS, There are an estimated 72,879 citizens living in
 long-term recovery from mental illness and substance use
 disorders in Denton County, Texas; and
 WHEREAS, It is important to encourage those in long-term
 recovery, their relatives and friends, and all engaged citizens
 to implement preventive measures, recognize the signs of a
 problem, and guide those in need to appropriate treatment and
 recovery support services; and
 WHEREAS, To help more citizens achieve and sustain
 long-term recovery, the Texas Department of Health and Human
 Services, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
 Administration, the White House Office of National Drug Control
 Policy, Young People in Recovery--Denton, Texas, and the
 University of North Texas Collegiate Recovery Program invite all
 residents of Denton County, Texas, to participate in Recovery
 Month 2016; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby proclaim September of 2016 as Recovery Month
 and encourage all Denton County citizens living in recovery, as
 well as their friends, relatives, and loved ones, to celebrate
 their accomplishments and successes; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the University of North Texas Collegiate Recovery Program and
 Young People in Recovery--Denton, Texas.
