5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, Overcoming mental illness and substance use
37 disorders is essential to achieving healthy lifestyles, both
48 physically and emotionally; and
59 WHEREAS, There are an estimated 72,879 citizens living in
610 long-term recovery from mental illness and substance use
711 disorders in Denton County, Texas; and
812 WHEREAS, It is important to encourage those in long-term
913 recovery, their relatives and friends, and all engaged citizens
1014 to implement preventive measures, recognize the signs of a
1115 problem, and guide those in need to appropriate treatment and
1216 recovery support services; and
1317 WHEREAS, To help more citizens achieve and sustain
1418 long-term recovery, the Texas Department of Health and Human
1519 Services, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
1620 Administration, the White House Office of National Drug Control
1721 Policy, Young People in Recovery--Denton, Texas, and the
1822 University of North Texas Collegiate Recovery Program invite all
1923 residents of Denton County, Texas, to participate in Recovery
2024 Month 2015; now, therefore, be it
2125 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2226 Legislature, hereby proclaim September of 2015 as Recovery Month
2327 and encourage all Denton County citizens living in recovery, as
2428 well as their friends, relatives, and loved ones, to celebrate
2529 their accomplishments and successes; and, be it further
2630 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2731 the University of North Texas Collegiate Recovery Program and
2832 Young People in Recovery--Denton, Texas.
