| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize David T. Newman on his 2015 induction into the Junior |

| 4 | 4 | | Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, David Newman grew up in Laredo and is a graduate |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of United High School; he joined B. P. Newman Investments in 1986 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and demonstrated his determination to learn every facet of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | business by working all positions at the company's Popeyes |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Louisiana Kitchen and Church's Chicken franchises; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Newman rose through the ranks and held the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | positions of manager, area manager, and director of operations, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and today, as vice president, he oversees the management of 33 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Church's Chicken locations across Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and Arkansas; under his leadership, the company has won numerous |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | awards, including three franchise pillar awards for operations |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | excellence and profitability; he has also served as a longtime |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | member and as president of the Church's Independent Franchisee |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He is active in a variety of civic and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | philanthropic organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Laredo Stroke Support, and the Laredo Chamber of Commerce; he is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | truly deserving of recognition for his many contributions to his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | profession and his community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend David T. Newman on his many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | achievements and extend congratulations to him on his induction |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, |
