SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 517 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ruben Bazan on his 2015 induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and WHEREAS, Ruben Bazan is a native of Nuevo Laredo and a graduate of Texas A&M University; he holds degrees in petroleum engineering and industrial engineering, and he worked for a time as a production manager in Mexico City and then as senior project manager before returning to his hometown to take over his family's customs brokerage business; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bazan and his brother went on to found the RB Group, a conglomerate of business enterprises that includes customs brokerage, ranching, real estate, wireless digital cable, and trucking interests; he played an important role in the creation of Mexico's first wireless digital cable system and in the design of the electronic clearing system used by Mexican customs; and WHEREAS, He currently serves as mayor pro tempore of Nuevo Laredo and as a member of the board of directors of the Laredo-Nuevo Laredo Binational Commission; it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for the profound impact he has had on the region's economy; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Ruben Bazan on his many achievements and extend congratulations to him on his induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
