| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Dallas County Sheriff's Department |

| 4 | 4 | | on the occasion of National Correctional Officers and Employees |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Week; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, National Correctional Officers and Employees Week |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | is celebrated the first week of May to honor the contributions of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | correctional officers and personnel at the local, state, and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | national levels; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Dallas County Sheriff's Department operates |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the seventh-largest jail system in the United States; the jail |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | system includes five jail facilities and a state-of-the-art |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | centralized medical and mental health facility; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A force of 1,500 Dallas County detention officers |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provides custodial care and supervision to approximately 6,000 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | inmates in the county with the support of some 200 clerks; each |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | month, these dedicated public servants process more than 1.7 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | million pages of documents, and more than 80,000 inmates are |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | booked each year; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Dallas County Sheriff's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Department have earned a reputation for diligence and high |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | standards, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | hard work and their commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the many committed professionals who |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | work to ensure the success of the Dallas County Sheriff's |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Department and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | National Correctional Officers and Employees Week; and, be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
