SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 538
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Post Stampede Rodeo on the grand occasion of its
75th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, For more than seven decades, the Post Stampede
Rodeo has drawn crowds to the community arena located just north
of Post, Texas; though the arena has seen a number of upgrades
over the years, visitors still enjoy the timeless charm of the
communal gathering space; and
WHEREAS, The Post community upholds proud rodeo traditions
as the birthplace of the American Junior Rodeo Association and as
the host to the first all-junior rodeo in the state; and
WHEREAS, Today, the rodeo is managed by a board of 10
directors and benefits from the leadership of board president
Lane Jones; all proceeds from the rodeo are directed back into
the community in the form of high school scholarships and
contributions to local civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, The Post Stampede Rodeo has won numerous awards
over the years, and last year, it was named the Texas Cowboy Rodeo
Association's Rodeo of the Year and the United Professional Rodeo
Association's Co-Approved Rodeo of the Year; it was also named
Organization of the Year by the Post Chamber of Commerce; it is
indeed deserving of recognition for 75 years of success in the
Post community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby congratulate the residents of Post and all
who have contributed to the Post Stampede Rodeo's extraordinary
75-year history and extend best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the rodeo as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
