SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 539 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Pete Sepulveda Jr., who was sworn in as Cameron County Judge on March 11, 2015; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda is a native of the Rio Grande Valley and a graduate of Texas A&M University; he was appointed Cameron County Judge to fill the seat of Judge Carlos Cascos, who has been named Texas Secretary of State; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda has enjoyed a long and productive career in public service; he served as city manager of Pharr and Eagle Pass, and for the last 17 years, he has held various positions with Cameron County, including that of director of transportation and that of county administrator; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda has a thorough knowledge of transportation issues and has worked with the Texas Department of Transportation on a number of highway, rail, and bridge projects; he played an important role in the permitting and construction of five international bridges between the United States and Mexico, including the first international rail bridge between the two countries in more than 100 years; and WHEREAS, He has also served as executive director of the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority and managed its nearly $2 billion system of projects; it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his many contributions to the growth and prosperity of the region; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Pete Sepulveda Jr. on his many achievements and extend to him best wishes for the future as Cameron County Judge; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
