| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Pete Sepulveda Jr., who was sworn in as Cameron County |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Judge on March 11, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda is a native of the Rio Grande Valley |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and a graduate of Texas A&M University; he was appointed Cameron |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | County Judge to fill the seat of Judge Carlos Cascos, who has been |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | named Texas Secretary of State; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda has enjoyed a long and productive |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | career in public service; he served as city manager of Pharr and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Eagle Pass, and for the last 17 years, he has held various |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | positions with Cameron County, including that of director of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | transportation and that of county administrator; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Sepulveda has a thorough knowledge of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | transportation issues and has worked with the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Transportation on a number of highway, rail, and bridge projects; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | he played an important role in the permitting and construction of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | five international bridges between the United States and Mexico, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | including the first international rail bridge between the two |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | countries in more than 100 years; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He has also served as executive director of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority and managed its |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | nearly $2 billion system of projects; it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | receive special recognition for his many contributions to the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | growth and prosperity of the region; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Pete Sepulveda Jr. on his many |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | achievements and extend to him best wishes for the future as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Cameron County Judge; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
