| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Richard F. Mackin, who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | died March 19, 2015, at the age of 79; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Richard Mackin was born on November 18, 1935, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Bronx, New York, and he grew up with 13 siblings in Providence, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Rhode Island; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He followed his patriotic calling at the age of 19 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | by joining the United States Air Force, and he served the nation |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | with distinction for 20 years; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After his military retirement, Mr. Mackin settled |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in Austin; he was a longtime employee of Saint David's Community |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Hospital, and he was an active member of Koenig Lane Christian |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Church, where he held numerous leadership positions; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, He shared 59 years of love and laughter with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Shirley Mackin, and they were longtime active members of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Austin square dancing community; they were blessed with three |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Richard Mackin was a beloved member of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community who was admired for his kindness, his integrity, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; he leaves |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of Richard F. Mackin; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | memory of Richard Mackin. |
