| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau, |

| 4 | 4 | | which is hosting the inaugural Fiesta de la Flor on April 17 and |

| 5 | 5 | | 18, 2015; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This special event is a celebration of the life |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and legacy of Selena Quintanilla Perez, whose Tejano music helped |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | shape the vibrant culture of the city and influenced Tejano music |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | worldwide; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The two-day celebration is taking place at North |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Bayfront Park and is showcasing well-known Tejano musicians; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | visitors can watch a special screening of Selena, peruse crafts |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of artisan vendors from across the state, and enjoy culinary |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | delights from local and regional food trucks; the event will |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | close with a spectacular fireworks show; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Bureau, the Quintanilla family, and a number of local businesses |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and community partners collaborated to bring this new annual |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | tradition to residents and visitors; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Selena Perez was a beloved resident of the city, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and she touched the hearts of many; her music inspired fans of all |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | ages and helped bring Tejano music into the American mainstream, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and the Fiesta de la Flor is a fitting tribute to her legacy; now, |

| 24 | 24 | | therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend all who have contributed to the debut |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of Fiesta de la Flor and extend best wishes for an enjoyable |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | inaugural celebration in honor of Selena; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a |
