44 George E. Neel Jr.
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of George E. Neel Jr., who
77 died March 22, 2015, at the age of 84; and
88 WHEREAS, George Neel was born on May 14, 1930, in Laredo;
99 he was a graduate of Martin High School and held a bachelor of
1010 arts degree from Baylor University and a master of arts degree
1111 from The University of Texas; and
1212 WHEREAS, He served his country with distinction in the
1313 United States Marine Corps; he advanced to the rank of first
1414 lieutenant and led a mortar platoon on assignments in Japan and
1515 Korea; and
1616 WHEREAS, He built a career as manager of the Neel Title
1717 Corporation in Laredo, and over the course of 60 years, he
1818 oversaw the company and its expansion across five counties in the
1919 region; he was also an award-winning Polled Hereford cattle
2020 rancher and had found success developing oil and gas on South
2121 Texas ranches; and
2222 WHEREAS, Mr. Neel was an admired leader in the community
2323 who served in a number of civic and professional organizations;
2424 he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will
2525 long be remembered with deep respect and admiration by all who
2626 were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2828 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2929 family of George E. Neel Jr.; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3131 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3232 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3333 memory of George E. Neel Jr.
