| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of George E. Neel Jr., who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | died March 22, 2015, at the age of 84; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, George Neel was born on May 14, 1930, in Laredo; |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | he was a graduate of Martin High School and held a bachelor of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | arts degree from Baylor University and a master of arts degree |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from The University of Texas; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He served his country with distinction in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | United States Marine Corps; he advanced to the rank of first |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | lieutenant and led a mortar platoon on assignments in Japan and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Korea; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He built a career as manager of the Neel Title |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Corporation in Laredo, and over the course of 60 years, he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | oversaw the company and its expansion across five counties in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | region; he was also an award-winning Polled Hereford cattle |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | rancher and had found success developing oil and gas on South |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas ranches; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Neel was an admired leader in the community |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | who served in a number of civic and professional organizations; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | long be remembered with deep respect and admiration by all who |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family of George E. Neel Jr.; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
