SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 56 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Texans across the state in celebrating January 26, 2015, as Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day and to welcome the representatives of the Texas Capitol Schoolhouse and the Capitol Schoolhouse Foundation to the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, A Texas Capitol Schoolhouse event has been held at the beginning of every legislative session since 1995; these informative gatherings demonstrate how educational technology funding is being used to improve the state's public schools; and WHEREAS, The 2015 participants are from the Coleman, Coppell, Deer Park, Denton, Klein, Pasadena, San Saba, Temple, and Ysleta Independent School Districts and from the Texas School for the Deaf; and WHEREAS, Teachers and students from the various districts set up classrooms in the Capitol and conduct normal classes in order to demonstrate the role of educational technology in schools across Texas today; this year's students will exhibit their skills in using video and sound editing, robotics, drone technology, and online virtual learning environments; and WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol Schoolhouse project provides an opportunity for legislators and other state officials to observe firsthand how state funding for educational technology is giving students the resources they need to succeed in today's complex world; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend the participants in the Texas Capitol Schoolhouse project on their commitment to education and extend to them best wishes for a productive and successful Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this event.
