| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ann S. Bishop, who is retiring as executive director of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | the Employees Retirement System of Texas after a long and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | distinguished career in public service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ann Bishop is a veteran of state government who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | has served as deputy comptroller of public accounts and was the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | first director of the Department of Information Resources when it |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was created in 1989; she served as chief of staff to Governor Rick |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Perry from November of 2012 to February of 2013; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, She was appointed the executive director of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Employees Retirement System of Texas in 2004; since that time, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she has overseen programs that provide retirement, deferred |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | compensation, and flexible benefits for more than 225,000 state |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | employees and retirees; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under her exemplary guidance, the retirement |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | system has successfully negotiated cost-saving contracts and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | tapped new technology to deliver quality benefits at a reasonable |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | cost; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She has distinguished herself as a state |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | administrator and is a recipient of the prestigious Bob Bullock |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Award for Outstanding Public Stewardship; she is an active |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | supporter of the Executive Women in Texas Government, and she has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided mentorship and career training for a variety of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | programs; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Ann Bishop has handled her far-reaching |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | responsibilities with exceptional skill and dedication, and she |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | deserves credit for the retirement system's long-term success; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | her presence at the Employees Retirement System of Texas will be |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Ann S. Bishop on her exceptional |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | career and on her many contributions to our state and extend to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
