                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 575
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the annual Franklin Volunteer Fire Department BBQ
 Cook-Off; and
 WHEREAS, The annual Franklin Volunteer Fire Department BBQ
 Cook-Off is held the first weekend in October at Franklin
 Volunteer Fire Station Number 2 and attracts participants from
 all around; and
 WHEREAS, This highly anticipated annual event is sponsored
 by the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and is sanctioned by
 the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the
 organization's annual state cook-offs; and
 WHEREAS, Proceeds from the competition benefit the
 Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and provide for training,
 protective equipment, and equipment maintenance, all of which
 allow fire department members to better serve the community; and
 WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue
 and competition, and the annual Franklin Volunteer Fire
 Department BBQ Cook-Off provides visitors with the opportunity
 to sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the state; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of and the participants
 in the annual Franklin Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-Off on
 their hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for
 a successful event; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this exemplary event.
