11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 588
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize the physicians, residents, medical students, and
44 advocate members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association,
55 who are visiting the State Capitol on April 22, 2015; and
66 WHEREAS, The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association was
77 founded by a group of five physicians in 1900; the ongoing mission
88 of the association is to promote health care excellence for the
99 people of Texas, to advance the distinct philosophy and principles
1010 of osteopathic medicine, and to loyally embrace the family of the
1111 osteopathic profession and serve their unique needs; and
1212 WHEREAS, As primary care doctors or specialists, physician
1313 members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association encourage
1414 their patients to develop attitudes and lifestyles that help
1515 prevent and fight illness; they give special attention to how the
1616 body's nerves, muscles, bones, and organs work together to
1717 influence health; through osteopathic manipulative treatment,
1818 they can use their hands to diagnose injury and illness and
1919 encourage the body's natural ability to heal itself; and
2020 WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical
2121 Association play an essential role in the health care of
2222 countless Texans, and their contribution to the welfare and
2323 prosperity of the state is truly deserving of special
2424 recognition; association members are visiting the State Capitol
2525 during National Osteopathic Medicine Week to celebrate Doctors
2626 of Osteopathic Medical Excellence Day, or D.O.M.E. Day; now,
2727 therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2929 Legislature, hereby recognize and welcome the members of the
3030 Texas Osteopathic Medical Association as they visit the Texas
3131 Capitol on D.O.M.E. Day and proclaim April 19 through 25, 2015,
3232 as Texas Osteopathic Medicine Week; and, be it further
3333 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
3434 honor of D.O.M.E. Day and Texas Osteopathic Medicine Week.
