| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 4 | 4 | | advocate members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, |

| 5 | 5 | | who are visiting the State Capitol on April 22, 2015; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association was |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | founded by a group of five physicians in 1900; the ongoing mission |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of the association is to promote health care excellence for the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | people of Texas, to advance the distinct philosophy and principles |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of osteopathic medicine, and to loyally embrace the family of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | osteopathic profession and serve their unique needs; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, As primary care doctors or specialists, physician |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association encourage |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | their patients to develop attitudes and lifestyles that help |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | prevent and fight illness; they give special attention to how the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | body's nerves, muscles, bones, and organs work together to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | influence health; through osteopathic manipulative treatment, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | they can use their hands to diagnose injury and illness and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | encourage the body's natural ability to heal itself; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Osteopathic Medical |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Association play an essential role in the health care of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | countless Texans, and their contribution to the welfare and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | prosperity of the state is truly deserving of special |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | recognition; association members are visiting the State Capitol |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | during National Osteopathic Medicine Week to celebrate Doctors |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of Osteopathic Medical Excellence Day, or D.O.M.E. Day; now, |

| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby recognize and welcome the members of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas Osteopathic Medical Association as they visit the Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Capitol on D.O.M.E. Day and proclaim April 19 through 25, 2015, |
