| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Don Haynes, band director at Lyndon Baines Johnson High |

| 4 | 4 | | School, who is retiring at the close of the 2014-2015 school year |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | after 39 years of exceptional service; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Don Haynes joined the staff of Lyndon Baines |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Johnson High School right after his graduation from The |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | University of Texas; over the last four decades, he has shaped an |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | award-winning band program that has earned widespread |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | recognition for excellence; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure, Mr. Haynes has done more than |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | foster the talents of young musicians; he has fed students when |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | they lacked food, chauffeured them when they lacked |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | transportation, and mentored them when they needed guidance; his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | students have performed at events throughout the nation and have |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | had opportunities to perform at overseas locations, including |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Great Wall of China; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, As a testament to his extraordinary career, he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | once shared tea with Lady Bird Johnson to prepare for his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | students' role in the groundbreaking of the Lady Bird Johnson |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Wildflower Center; in 2007, the Austin Independent School |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | District named the Lyndon Baines Johnson High School theater in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his honor; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Don Haynes truly loves his work and remains |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | dedicated to the success of his students; he has long held the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | respect and admiration of colleagues and young musicians |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | throughout the state, and he leaves behind an exceptional legacy |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Don Haynes on his outstanding career |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | as band director at Lyndon Baines Johnson High School and extend |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
