| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Thelma Franklin on the grand occasion of her 101st |

|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Thelma Franklin is known for |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | her generosity of spirit and is a beloved member of her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Thelma Franklin was born on March 14, 1914, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Shreveport, Louisiana, to Amanda and Richard Smith; she was the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 13th of 15 children in the family; she has lived through times and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | experienced events that many people only know through history |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | books; her life has given her a unique perspective on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | contemporary events, and there is much to be learned from the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | wisdom she has gained through the years; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and productive career with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Mercantile Bank of Dallas, and today, she takes great pleasure in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | creating lovely quilts and reading her Bible; a devout Christian |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | who practices her faith in her daily life, she is a member of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Turning Point Ministry Church in Dallas; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Franklin was blessed with seven children, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and two are still living; she is noted for her warmth and her |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | wisdom, and she inspires those around her with her enthusiasm for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Thelma Franklin on her 101st |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | birthday; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | her as a memento of this occasion. |
