11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 598
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Thelma Franklin on the grand occasion of her 101st
44 birthday; and
55 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Thelma Franklin is known for
66 her generosity of spirit and is a beloved member of her
77 community; and
88 WHEREAS, Thelma Franklin was born on March 14, 1914, in
99 Shreveport, Louisiana, to Amanda and Richard Smith; she was the
1010 13th of 15 children in the family; she has lived through times and
1111 experienced events that many people only know through history
1212 books; her life has given her a unique perspective on
1313 contemporary events, and there is much to be learned from the
1414 wisdom she has gained through the years; and
1515 WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and productive career with
1616 Mercantile Bank of Dallas, and today, she takes great pleasure in
1717 creating lovely quilts and reading her Bible; a devout Christian
1818 who practices her faith in her daily life, she is a member of
1919 Turning Point Ministry Church in Dallas; and
2020 WHEREAS, Mrs. Franklin was blessed with seven children,
2121 and two are still living; she is noted for her warmth and her
2222 wisdom, and she inspires those around her with her enthusiasm for
2323 living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2525 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Thelma Franklin on her 101st
2626 birthday; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2828 her as a memento of this occasion.
