| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Ripley House Neighborhood Center is celebrating 75 |

| 3 | 3 | | years of service to the residents of Houston's East End in 2015; |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 1940, Ripley House has |

| 6 | 6 | | made a positive difference in the lives of countless individuals |

| 7 | 7 | | in the local area; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The organization works to connect neighbors to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | resources and education and offers a number of vital programs; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the center's charter school serves students from kindergarten |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | through eighth grade, and Ripley House also includes a senior |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | activity center, community health clinic, and free income tax |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | preparation center; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, With its enduring commitment to serve the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | community, Ripley House has been an integral part of the East End |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for three-quarters of a century, and it is indeed fitting to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | recognize the dedication of all those who have contributed to its |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | mission; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby honor Ripley House Neighborhood Center on |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the 75th anniversary of its founding and extend to its |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | management, staff, and volunteers sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | future; and, be it further |
