SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 646 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Toni Brown-Belew, who is retiring as executive director of United Way of Hood County after 15 years of outstanding service; and WHEREAS, Toni Brown-Belew earned a degree in social work from Texas A&M University--Commerce; over the course of her distinguished career, she has worked in adolescent pregnancy prevention and served as director of Tarrant County YWCA; one of her most cherished jobs was serving as a social worker for the Edna Gladney Home and Day Care Association; and WHEREAS, As an executive director with United Way of Hood County, Toni has effectively managed fund-raising and local grant appropriations, and she has chaired community coalitions that address such issues as child abuse and health care and assisted with tornado relief; and WHEREAS, She is an exemplary leader in her field who is noted for her talent for training nonprofit boards and for her passionate approach to her work; she was named Executive Woman of the Year for Tarrant County and Woman of the Year for Hood County and was honored with the Wanda Pyburn Award by United Way of Tarrant County; and WHEREAS, Toni Brown-Belew is respected and admired by many; she has handled her far-reaching responsibilities with exceptional skill, and her presence at United Way of Hood County will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Toni Brown-Belew on her many contributions to the community and the state as director of United Way of Hood County and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
