11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 650
22 WHEREAS, Max Hartmann of Doss is retiring from the Texas
33 and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association in March 2015, and
44 the occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize him for
55 his notable career and many achievements; and
66 WHEREAS, A native of New Braunfels, Mr. Hartmann received
77 his education at Texas A&M University and was sworn in as game
88 warden for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in June 1967;
99 stationed in Fredericksburg, he served in Gillespie and Blanco
1010 Counties until 1995; and
1111 WHEREAS, That same year, Mr. Hartmann became the justice
1212 of the peace for Precinct Two in Gillespie County, and he also
1313 joined the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association as a
1414 market inspector at the Gillespie Livestock Company; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. Hartmann stepped down as justice of the peace
1616 in 1998 and returned to Texas Parks and Wildlife, working as a
1717 state game warden until September 2005, when he rejoined the
1818 Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association as a special
1919 ranger; in 2011, he became the association's supervisor for
2020 Region Two and helped to organize a coalition of property owners
2121 in and around Gillespie County; and
2222 WHEREAS, Mr. Hartmann's many awards include recognition as
2323 the highest ranked sharpshooter by the Texas Parks and Wildlife
2424 Department and Outstanding Wildlife Officer of the Year in 1993;
2525 he received the Shikar-Safari Club International Award from the
2626 department in 1992, and he was named Outstanding Public Servant
2727 by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce in 1997; and
2828 WHEREAS, Also active with area youth, he served as
2929 president of the Gillespie 4-H and FFA Livestock Associations in
3030 1980, and he was recognized as Gillespie County 4-H leader of the
3131 year in 1977; and
3232 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hartmann has enjoyed
3333 the love and support of his wife, Franny; they are the proud
3434 parents of three children and have seen their family grow to
3535 include nine grandchildren; and
3636 WHEREAS, Max Hartmann has an impressive record of
3737 accomplishments as a law enforcement officer and advocate for
3838 landowners, and his dedication, professionalism, and commitment
3939 to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of Gillespie
4040 County and earned him widespread respect and admiration; now,
4141 therefore, be it
4242 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
4343 Legislature, hereby congratulate Max Hartmann on his retirement
4444 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness;
4545 and, be it further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4747 prepared for Mr. Hartmann as an expression of high regard from
4848 the Texas Senate.
