| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Paul Kent McGaha, who is retiring after 27 years of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | outstanding service with the Texas Department of State Health |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Services; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McGaha earned his medical degree from the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and he holds a master's degree in public health from The |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, He began his career with the department in 1988 as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a public health physician in Tyler, and he became regional |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | medical director of Health Service Region 4 and 5 North in 1995; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | he has been instrumental in leading collaborative efforts |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | between the department and local health departments and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | authorities, academic institutions, and health care providers, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | especially those offering services to underserved populations; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | medicine, Dr. McGaha has been noted for his expertise in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fields of public health service delivery and preventive |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | medicine, and he has been published in numerous professional |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | journals; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary physician and administrator, he is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texas Department of State Health Services will be greatly missed; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Paul Kent McGaha on his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exceptional service to the people of Texas with the Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Department of State Health Services and extend to him best wishes |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
