| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Carmelo's Ristorante Italiano of Austin; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Carmelo Mauro's first outstanding establishment |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | opened as a restaurant in Houston in 1981; Carmelo's of Austin |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | opened on October 11, 1985, in the Old Depot Hotel building; the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | restaurant is known for its exceptional cuisine and service, and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | much of its popularity is due to the expertise of its loyal, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | longtime employees; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Founder and owner Carmelo Mauro has been recognized |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by the National Restaurant Association as the Cornerstone |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Humanitarian of the Year, and Carmelo and his wife, Hilary, actively |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | support such organizations as the Texas Advocacy Project and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Mauro is a past president of the Texas Restaurant |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Association, and he has been inducted into that association's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Hall of Honor; he was voted Chef of Chefs in 2014, and both of his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | restaurants have received the prestigious seal of Ospitalitá |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Italiana from the Italian government; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Carmelo's Ristorante Italiano is a mainstay of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Austin's thriving restaurant scene, and it is truly fitting that |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the restaurant receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend Carmelo Mauro and the members of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | staff of Carmelo's Ristorante Italiano on their commitment to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | serving excellent and authentic Italian cuisine and extend to all |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
