| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Austin in mourning the loss of Paul Howard Pryor, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | April 10, 2015, at the age of 65; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Paul Pryor was born on April 22, 1949, and he grew |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | up listening to the radio, as his father, Richard "Cactus" Pryor, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | broadcasted a daily morning show from their Austin home; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | career, and he later joined the Dallas Theater Center and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | traveled the nation as a member of the Alpha Omega Players acting |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | troupe; he settled in Dallas and worked as a news director for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | several radio stations and was later recruited to serve as news |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | director for KVET in Austin; during his years on the Austin |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | airwaves, he also had popular talk shows on KLBJ-AM and a local |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | ESPN station; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Pryor was known for his quick wit and for his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | exceptional talent on the air; although he was highly opinionated |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and enjoyed controversial debates with his audience, he was |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | respected and admired for his professionalism and his kind |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | nature; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Above all things, Paul Pryor cherished his two |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | children, Ana and Pecos; he helped carry on a proud family tradition |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of broadcast entertainment, and he leaves behind memories that |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | will long be treasured by his family, friends, and many fans; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family of Paul Howard Pryor; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | memory of Paul Pryor. |
