| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Live Oak County in recognizing May 5, 2015, |

| 4 | 4 | | as Live Oak County Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1856, Live Oak County is located |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | midway between San Antonio and Corpus Christi; crossed by three |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | major highways, the county is known as the "Crossroads of South |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Texas"; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In Live Oak County, oil and gas production and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | farming and ranching play a significant role in the local |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | economy; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Live Oak County is the birthplace of J. Frank |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Dobie, noted author, folklorist and storyteller, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | storytelling remains an admired pastime; the town of George West |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | is the "Storytelling Capital of Texas" and has a Storyfest every |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | November; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Recreation and outdoor sports are a large part of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the fabric of life in Live Oak County; Choke Canyon Reservoir and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Lake Corpus Christi provide numerous recreational |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | opportunities; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The county hosts an annual county fair, and Three |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Rivers, located at the convergence of the Nueces, Frio and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Atascosa Rivers, hosts a Salsa Fest every first weekend in April; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Live Oak County for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | their many contributions to our state and welcome them to the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Capitol in celebration of Live Oak County Day; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
