| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lillie Mae Wieding for her many contributions to the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Three Rivers community and her exceptional service as president |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | of First State Bank; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lillie Mae Wieding was valedictorian of her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | graduating class at Three Rivers High School; she began her |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | career at First State Bank as a bookkeeper in 1951, when bank |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | records were kept in hand-written ledger books and the terms of a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | home loan fit on a single page; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, she learned the details of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | banking business by working in a wide variety of positions; she |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | served as a cashier, teller, loan officer, and vice president; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she was elected to the board of directors and named bank |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | president in 1990; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under her outstanding leadership, the bank |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | continued to grow and prosper and to play an important role in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | life of the community; she established the annual tradition of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the bank's free holiday dinner, and she helped many people to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | maintain their businesses; in addition, she has served on |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | numerous community boards, has been a member of many |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | organizations and clubs, and is a lifetime member of Our Savior |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Lutheran Church; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she is beloved and respected by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | area citizens, and it is truly fitting that she receive special |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognition for her generous spirit and her many achievements; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend Lillie Mae Wieding on her |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | exceptional contributions to the people of Three Rivers as a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | community leader and as president of First State Bank and extend |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
