| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jessica Herrera for her outstanding work as an intern |

| 4 | 4 | | in the office of Senator Royce West; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jessica is a participant in the Senator Gregory |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program, which is sponsored |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | by the Senate Hispanic Research Council; this respected |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | competitive internship program provides college students and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | recent graduates the opportunity to serve as full-time staffers for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | a senator or for the lieutenant governor during a legislative |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | session; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Jessica is a 2014 graduate of The University of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas at Austin, where she was a Gateway Scholar and a member of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Minority Women Pursuing Law; she also studied abroad in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | English Department at Oxford University; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, This exemplary young woman has brought a wealth of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | relevant experience to bear in her tenure with Senator West, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | her many duties in the senator's office have included work with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Higher Education Committee, the Veteran Affairs and Military |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Installations Committee, and the Senate Subcommittee on Border |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Security; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Jessica Herrera has played an important role in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | development of sound public policy during the legislative session, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and it is truly fitting that she receive special recognition for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | her work in the senator's office; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jessica Herrera on her exceptional |

| 28 | 28 | | work for Senator Royce West as a participant in the Senator |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program and extend |

| 30 | 30 | | to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; |
