SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 730 WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of a native Texan is indeed a special occasion, and Nina Lee Green Sinclair of Lubbock marks this significant milestone in her life on May 24, 2015; and WHEREAS, Born in Roaring Springs in Motley County, Texas, in 1925, the former Nina Lee Green was the daughter of John Duff and Myra Kelly Green who were Texas pioneers; she grew up on the Greenland Stock Farm on the banks of the Tongue River, and she was baptized at the Roaring Springs First Baptist Church in 1936; and WHEREAS, She graduated from Roaring Springs High School in 1942, and she began working at Koen's Studio in Lubbock in 1943 as an artist who hand-colored portraits; and WHEREAS, She married her childhood sweetheart, Louis Avery Sinclair, on January 18, 1946, and they soon moved to Abernathy, where they made their home for 26 years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair was employed again by Koen's Studio, where she worked diligently on, among other things, the Texas Tech University La Ventana yearbook as a photographer and a designer until 1948; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair devoted herself to her home and family while supporting her husband in his work as a 40-year employee of Southwestern Public Service Company; she and Mr. Sinclair were blessed with three wonderful children, David, Terri, and Jerry; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair was an incredible mother, mentor, and homemaker who supported her children in their various activities;theywereinvolvedwithsuchorganizationsas4-H and Future Farmers of America, and their education included attending and graduating from Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair relocated to Lubbock in 1972; they spent many wonderful years together until Mr. Sinclair passed away in 2009; and WHEREAS, Blessed with the admiration of a host of loved ones and sustained by her strong faith, Nina Sinclair has gracefully reached the 90-year mark and continues to enrich the lives of all who are fortunate to know her; she is affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Sugar"; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby congratulate Nina Lee Green Sinclair on the grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Nina Sinclair as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
