11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 730
22 WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of a native Texan is indeed a
33 special occasion, and Nina Lee Green Sinclair of Lubbock marks
44 this significant milestone in her life on May 24, 2015; and
55 WHEREAS, Born in Roaring Springs in Motley County, Texas,
66 in 1925, the former Nina Lee Green was the daughter of John Duff
77 and Myra Kelly Green who were Texas pioneers; she grew up on the
88 Greenland Stock Farm on the banks of the Tongue River, and she was
99 baptized at the Roaring Springs First Baptist Church in 1936; and
1010 WHEREAS, She graduated from Roaring Springs High School in
1111 1942, and she began working at Koen's Studio in Lubbock in 1943 as
1212 an artist who hand-colored portraits; and
1313 WHEREAS, She married her childhood sweetheart, Louis Avery
1414 Sinclair, on January 18, 1946, and they soon moved to Abernathy,
1515 where they made their home for 26 years; and
1616 WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair was employed again by Koen's
1717 Studio, where she worked diligently on, among other things, the
1818 Texas Tech University La Ventana yearbook as a photographer and a
1919 designer until 1948; and
2020 WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair devoted herself to her home and
2121 family while supporting her husband in his work as a 40-year
2222 employee of Southwestern Public Service Company; she and
2323 Mr. Sinclair were blessed with three wonderful children, David,
2424 Terri, and Jerry; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mrs. Sinclair was an incredible mother, mentor,
2626 and homemaker who supported her children in their various
2727 activities;theywereinvolvedwithsuchorganizationsas4-H
2828 and Future Farmers of America, and their education included
2929 attending and graduating from Tarleton State University and
3030 Texas Tech University; and
3131 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair relocated to Lubbock in
3232 1972; they spent many wonderful years together until
3333 Mr. Sinclair passed away in 2009; and
3434 WHEREAS, Blessed with the admiration of a host of loved
3535 ones and sustained by her strong faith, Nina Sinclair has
3636 gracefully reached the 90-year mark and continues to enrich the
3737 lives of all who are fortunate to know her; she is affectionately
3838 known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Sugar";
3939 now, therefore, be it
4040 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
4141 Legislature, hereby congratulate Nina Lee Green Sinclair on the
4242 grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Nina
4444 Sinclair as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
