| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Jordan Spieth on the occasion of his record-setting |

| 4 | 4 | | victory in the 2015 Masters golf tournament; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jordan Spieth won this prestigious event in just |

| 6 | 6 | | his second attempt with a score of 18 under par 270, tying the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | record for lowest score in the tournament's history; at 21 years |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of age, he is the second-youngest golfer ever to have won the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Masters, one of golf's four major championships; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Jordan demonstrated his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | potential for great success at a young age by becoming one of only |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | two golfers to win multiple United States Junior Amateur |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | championships; he went on to attend The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Austin, where he led the Longhorns to the 2012 National |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Collegiate Athletic Association national championship; he won |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | his first professional tournament at the age of 19, becoming the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | youngest golfer to win a tour event since 1931; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his historic Masters win, he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | tied or established numerous records; he was the first golfer in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the tournament's history to reach a score of 19 under par, and his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 28 birdies set a new Masters record; he was the first to lead the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | tournament all four days since 1976, and he set 36-hole and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 54-hole scoring records; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Jordan has risen to number two in the Official |

| 25 | 25 | | World Golf Ranking; he is incredibly popular among golf fans and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | his fellow competitors alike, and it is truly fitting that he |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | receive special recognition as he achieves this milestone in his |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | career; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jordan Spieth on his hard work and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | dedication and extend congratulations to him on winning the 2015 |

| 32 | 32 | | Masters; and, be it further |
