| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Matthew Martinez, a junior at Gregory-Portland |

| 3 | 3 | | High School, was named the 2015 Mr. Windfest by the Portland |

| 4 | 4 | | Chamber of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, In preparation for Windfest, an annual event |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | sponsored by the Portland Chamber of Commerce to celebrate |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | spring, the chamber selected an outstanding male and female |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 11th-grade student to represent the chamber and the festival; in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | his role as Mr. Windfest, Mr. Martinez will participate in other |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | chamber events throughout the year, and he will receive a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | scholarship; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez plans to begin his college education |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | this summer by taking dual credit courses in English, biology, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | government, and economics at Del Mar College; his goal is to take |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | pharmacy classes at Angelo State University; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An outstanding student, Mr. Martinez is a member |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of the Gregory-Portland Y-Lead class, and he is involved with the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | athletics program as a student trainer; he has also developed an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | interest in politics and hopes to travel to the State Capitol to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | participate in the Senate's Sergeant-at-Arms program; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this outstanding young Texan has achieved a significant record of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | success, and he indeed deserves special recognition for his many |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Matthew Martinez on his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | selection as the 2015 Mr. Windfest and extend to him sincere best |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
