5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Orange County in mourning the loss of noted rancher |
---|
7 | 7 | | and peace officer Clyde Jordan, who died May 27, 2014; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Clyde Jordan was born on August 27, 1927; he |
---|
9 | 9 | | learned the value of hard work at an early age and began working |
---|
10 | 10 | | cattle as a young man; he served the nation with distinction |
---|
11 | 11 | | during World War II as a military policeman at the Los Alamos |
---|
12 | 12 | | nuclear testing facility; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, After the war, he returned to ranching, and he |
---|
14 | 14 | | managed several livestock sales in Texas and Louisiana; he also |
---|
15 | 15 | | established Jordan Packing, a custom meat-packing operation; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He was elected Orange County Precinct 4 constable |
---|
17 | 17 | | in 1980, and he served with dedication for 16 years; during his |
---|
18 | 18 | | tenure in office, he also served as a captain with the Louisiana |
---|
19 | 19 | | state police and was instrumental in the creation of the Deep |
---|
20 | 20 | | East Texas Narcotics Task Force; after his retirement, he held a |
---|
21 | 21 | | commission as an Orange County reserve deputy sheriff and served |
---|
22 | 22 | | as a director for the Orange County Drainage District; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, He and his wife, the late Bea Jordan, took part in |
---|
24 | 24 | | a wide variety of community activities and countless |
---|
25 | 25 | | fund-raisers; he was also active in a number of organizations, |
---|
26 | 26 | | including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Vidor Chamber |
---|
27 | 27 | | of Commerce, and the East Texas Peace Officers Association; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
---|
29 | 29 | | gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued |
---|
30 | 30 | | counsel will not be forgotten; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
---|
32 | 32 | | grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
---|
33 | 33 | | forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
---|
34 | 34 | | therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
37 | 37 | | family of Clyde Jordan; and, be it further |
---|
38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
39 | 39 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
41 | 41 | | memory of Clyde Jordan. |
