SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 799 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Salvador Morales, who is retiring after 41 years of distinguished service with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department; and WHEREAS, During his years of service with the department, Salvador Morales went above and beyond the call of duty and became a nationally recognized leader in his field; he was dedicated to promoting workforce diversity in fire service, and he served in numerous local and national leadership capacities; and WHEREAS, Mr. Morales was a founder of the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association, the Texas Association of Hispanic Firefighters, and the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters, and he served as the first president of both the state and national organizations; and WHEREAS, He helped establish the National Fire-Rescue Diversity Coalition and presented its agenda to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and in 1999, he testified at a Congressional subcommittee on minorities in fire service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Morales has been a mentor to students throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; he has demonstrated excellence in his field while working as a tireless advocate for the Hispanic community, and his presence with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Salvador Morales on more than four decades of outstanding service with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
