| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Salvador Morales, who is retiring after 41 years of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | distinguished service with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, During his years of service with the department, |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Salvador Morales went above and beyond the call of duty and became |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | a nationally recognized leader in his field; he was dedicated to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | promoting workforce diversity in fire service, and he served in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | numerous local and national leadership capacities; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Morales was a founder of the Dallas Hispanic |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Firefighters Association, the Texas Association of Hispanic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Firefighters, and the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and he served as the first president of both the state and national |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organizations; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He helped establish the National Fire-Rescue |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Diversity Coalition and presented its agenda to the Congressional |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Hispanic Caucus, and in 1999, he testified at a Congressional |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | subcommittee on minorities in fire service; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Morales has been a mentor to students |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; he has demonstrated |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | excellence in his field while working as a tireless advocate for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Hispanic community, and his presence with the Dallas Fire-Rescue |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Salvador Morales on more than four |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | decades of outstanding service with the Dallas Fire-Rescue |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Department and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
