| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Diana Barrera, who retired as the clerk of Nueces |

| 4 | 4 | | County on December 31, 2014, after 33 years of excellent work in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | public administration; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Diana learned every facet of the county clerk's |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | office while working on her education; she was promoted to the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | position of chief deputy in 1991, and she managed her |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | far-reaching responsibilities with skill and dedication; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, She was appointed Nueces County clerk in 2004 and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | began modernizing the office and transitioning it to the digital |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | age; Diana's achievements included developing a user-friendly |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | website that increased public access, procuring grant funding |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for technology upgrades, and digitizing historical county |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | records dating back to the county's establishment in 1847; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A leader in the field of public administration, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Diana has been a frequent presenter at seminars and professional |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | gatherings, and she has worked with the Corpus Christi Convention |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and Visitors Bureau to host regional and statewide conferences; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She is admired and respected by Nueces County |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | residents and her former colleagues, and her presence at the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Nueces County Clerk's Office will be greatly missed; now, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Diana Barrera for her exemplary |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | service to the residents of Nueces County and extend to her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
