SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 816 WHEREAS, The Westside Development Corporation is honoring Brother Cletus Behlmann on May 21 at the 2015 Westside Honors Exitos en Nuestro Barrio Gala in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Selected as the arts and culture honoree, Cletus Behlmann is a Marianist brother, and he taught for 19 years before joining Saint Mary's University Art Center in 1977; he chairs the institution's Fine Arts Committee and serves as director and artist-in-residence at the center, where he gives demonstrations and teaches; and WHEREAS, Brother Cletus studied at the Chicago Institute of Art and at Washington University in Saint Louis; an exceptionally versatile and prolific artist, he makes time amid his myriad responsibilities to create beautiful pieces in a variety of media, including metal, acrylics, watercolor, batik, pastels, stained glass, ceramics, handmade paper, and crayon; his work is widely admired for its deeply spiritual quality; and WHEREAS, The city of San Antonio is indeed fortunate to have passionate and engaged residents like Brother Cletus Behlmann, whose history of community engagement is an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby congratulate Brother Cletus Behlmann on his recognition by the Westside Development Corporation at the 2015 Westside Honors Exitos en Nuestro Barrio Gala and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Brother Cletus Behlmann as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
