| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Steve Harvey and the 2015 National Mentoring Camp, |

| 4 | 4 | | which is taking place in Dallas June 9 through 14, 2015; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The National Mentoring Camp is a part of the Steve |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Harvey Mentoring Program for Young Men; the camp is an endeavor |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to share, teach, and demonstrate the principles of manhood to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | young men; it is one of many programs sponsored by the Steve and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Marjorie Harvey Foundation; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Steve Harvey is a renowned entertainer who is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | widely known for his strong family values and savvy business |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sense; he has used his immense success as a means to empower |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | others, and he has a particular passion for helping young |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | citizens find educational and career success; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The famed comedian serves as the host for the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | mentoring camp, which includes a series of workshops that focus |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | on personal responsibility, dream-building, and the importance |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of proper nutrition and physical fitness; participants have the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | opportunity to meet positive male role models from a wide range |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of backgrounds; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Young people throughout the nation have benefited |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | from Steve Harvey's extensive work in communities, and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | National Mentoring Camp is an outstanding opportunity for young |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | men to gain the tools they need to build successful futures; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend Steve Harvey for his many |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | philanthropic works and extend to him best wishes for a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | successful 2015 National Mentoring Camp; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | honor of Steve Harvey and the National Mentoring Camp. |
