                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 831
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 honor the late Nathaniel Williams on the occasion of his 2015
 induction into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and
 WHEREAS, Nathaniel Williams began his career in education
 more than half a century ago in Terrell; in 1960, he moved to
 Dallas, where he served as a teacher, mentor, and coach at
 various elementary and middle schools in the city, and he led
 basketball teams at three of his schools to city championships; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams went on to become assistant
 principal at Pearl C. Anderson Middle School, and he later served
 as director of the district's Adult Basic Education Program; he
 was active in a number of professional and civic organizations,
 notably Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Boy Scouts of America,
 who honored him with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award; and
 WHEREAS, A highly principled man of courage and
 compassion, he had a profound impact on the lives of countless
 students, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for
 his outstanding achievements; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and legacy of the
 late Nathaniel Williams as he is inducted into the African
 American Educators Hall of Fame; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
