| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | honor the late Nathaniel Williams on the occasion of his 2015 |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | induction into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Nathaniel Williams began his career in education |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | more than half a century ago in Terrell; in 1960, he moved to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Dallas, where he served as a teacher, mentor, and coach at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | various elementary and middle schools in the city, and he led |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | basketball teams at three of his schools to city championships; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Williams went on to become assistant |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | principal at Pearl C. Anderson Middle School, and he later served |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as director of the district's Adult Basic Education Program; he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | was active in a number of professional and civic organizations, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | notably Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Boy Scouts of America, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | who honored him with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A highly principled man of courage and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | compassion, he had a profound impact on the lives of countless |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | students, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | his outstanding achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life and legacy of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | late Nathaniel Williams as he is inducted into the African |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | American Educators Hall of Fame; and, be it further |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his family as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate. |
