SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 841 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Evelyn Dickerson on the occasion of her 2015 induction into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Evelyn Dickerson's extensive classroom experience ranges from early childhood instruction to college; she began her career in education in 1963 as a physical education teacher and a coach in Terrell; and WHEREAS, Over the course of her decades-long career, she has also served as a counselor, a mentor for other teachers, and a curriculum writer; she designed and implemented a model early childhood education program for inner city preschoolers at the Jimmie Tyler Brashear Early Childhood Center, and she has helped families to build more than 1,000 home libraries; and WHEREAS, This distinguished educator has had a profound impact on the lives of countless students and their families, and she is truly deserving of special recognition for her many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Evelyn Dickerson on her commitment to excellence in education and extend congratulations to her on her 2015 induction into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
