| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Evelyn Dickerson on the occasion of her 2015 induction |

| 4 | 4 | | into the African American Educators Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn Dickerson's extensive classroom experience |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | ranges from early childhood instruction to college; she began her |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | career in education in 1963 as a physical education teacher and a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | coach in Terrell; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her decades-long career, she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | has also served as a counselor, a mentor for other teachers, and a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | curriculum writer; she designed and implemented a model early |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | childhood education program for inner city preschoolers at the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Jimmie Tyler Brashear Early Childhood Center, and she has helped |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | families to build more than 1,000 home libraries; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished educator has had a profound |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | impact on the lives of countless students and their families, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and she is truly deserving of special recognition for her many |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Legislature, hereby commend Evelyn Dickerson on her commitment |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to excellence in education and extend congratulations to her on |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | her 2015 induction into the African American Educators Hall of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Fame; and, be it further |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
